Adoption Support in Society Today (ASIST) was set up in 1993 as a voluntary support group for families who had adopted children and who were concerned about the way the adoption service was being delivered nationally – for children, birth parents and adoptive parents. We became a registered charity in 2002.
We believe that every woman with an unplanned pregnancy should be
aware of all her options and so be able to make an informed choice
based on this knowledge. We do not try to persuade mothers to give
up their babies but believe that adoption should be given equal status
in the decision making process with the other options of
abortion and keeping the baby. We are not an adoption
agency but are happy to discuss adoption, in confidence,
with anyone who wants to know more about it.
We work through the media and personal contact
towards the accurate portrayal of baby adoption
and its success in creating a loving, stable family.
